Health & Dismissal Communication Reminder

To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we would like to clarify our procedures when a child becomes unwell during the school day. If a student needs to be picked up, a parent/guardian will always be contacted directly by the school—typically by our school nurse or a member of the main office staff. On rare occasions, a classroom teacher may also reach out.

Students should not contact home on their own to request dismissal. Under no circumstances are students asked to notify a parent/guardian that they are unwell or need to be picked up. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this procedure so that we can ensure accurate communication and proper care for every student.

IMPORTANT End of Year Medication Pick Up Notice from the Nurse

If your child keeps medication in the nurse’s office, please remember to pick up your child’s medication(s) on the last day of school
  • No medications will be held over until September.
  • Any medications left in the Health Office will be discarded.
  • Students are not permitted to pick up or transport medications from/to school.

Please read on for an important message below from our school nurse, Mrs. Palma, regarding end of year medication pick up. You can also view this letter by clicking here: MEDICATION PICK UP

After School Activities

Now that all clubs and tutoring are over, on behalf of all of the after school club facilitators as well as our staff tutors, we'd like to thank our students' families for another wonderful year of after school fun and learning! Please look for an online registration form to arrive via email in late summer for the 2026-2027 after school programs. Have a great summer!

Warmer Weather Dress Code Reminders

As the weather becomes warmer, we have a few reminders for student dress:

  • All footwear must be secured to the foot and not be considered beachwear, such as flip-flops, sandals, or slides. Sneakers MUST be worn for physical education classes and are encouraged to be worn daily as students run and play during recess.
  • All school attire must be neat, clean, modest and safe.
  • Students' clothing should not be sheer, brief, low-cut or revealing above or below the waist. Extremely short shorts and midriff shirts are not permitted.
  • Baseball hats may be worn to and from school, and at recess, but will not be permitted in the school building.

If a student arrives at school in apparel that does not meet our dress code, a phone call will be made home and they will be offered alternative clothes from the nurse's office. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The last CEHASA meeting of the 2026-2027 school year will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at 6PM in the New Albany School Library. Superintendent Mr. Cappello and Board of Education President Mrs. Fitzwater will present information to all attendees regarding the referendum. We hope to see you there!

THANK YOU!

Friday, May 15 marked the final pretzel delivery for the 2025–2026 school year.

We hope everyone enjoys the many exciting end-of-year activities ahead, including Field Days at Rush and New Albany, the 2nd and 5th grade moving up celebrations, and all of the end-of-year parties and events.

We would like to thank Eleanor Rush School for allowing us to turn their hallway into “Pretzel Alley” each week, New Albany School for welcoming us and our wagons full of pretzels into their building, our teachers for graciously forgiving the weekly interruption of pretzel drop-off, and the many volunteers who gave their time on Friday mornings to break, bag, sort, and deliver over 15,000 pretzels this year.

Last, but certainly not least, we would like to thank everyone who purchased pretzels this year. Your support of this fundraiser allows CEHASA to continue funding many initiatives throughout the school year.

Looking forward to next year!
