Kids Heart Challenge

We would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this year's Kids Heart Challenge. Thanks to your generous support, Rush School exceeded our goal of $26K and raised $28,558 for kids with special hearts! Rush School was the 5th highest contributor in the state of New Jersey, and #1 in Burlington County. Again, we thank everyone who worked hard to make this happen, and extend a big Shout Out to our P.E. teacher, Mr. Baldasari (and student teacher, Ms. Steelman) for promoting healthy heart habits during the month of February, and organizing this very worthy cause.

World Down Syndrome Day

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. March 21st was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. Every year on March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about this condition.

Together we can create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down Syndrome in our community and around the world. All Cinnaminson students and staff are invited to wear crazy socks, brightly colored socks, long socks, short socks, printed socks, or mismatched socks to celebrate being UNIQUE!

Attendance Matters

The most recent federal data show that in the 2020-21 school year, at least 14.7 million students nationwide were chronically absent. This means that chronic absenteeism has almost doubled from the more than 8 million students, pre-Covid-19, who were missing so many days of school that they were academically at-risk. Chronic absence refers to missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason (excused and unexcused absences) can result in students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. It is important for schools and families to work together to determine the cause of chronic absenteeism, and implement strategies that address attendance barriers.

Rush School Career Day

Eleanor Rush Intermediate School will be hosting a 5th grade Career Day on Thursday, April 2, 2026. We are looking for volunteers to speak with students about their careers, their educational background, and any other pertinent information. Volunteers are not just limited to parents, but can also include other family members or family friends.

The career day will begin at 9:00am and end around 11 am. Students will have the option to pick 4 presentations to attend during that time. Please be prepared to speak about your career for about 25 minutes to different groups of students and field any questions the students may ask. Information may include, but is not limited to, skills and education needed for your occupation, description of a typical day, and why you chose your career path. Please feel free to bring any visual aids and/or tools needed to complement your presentation. We welcome any time commitment you are able to give; you are welcome to commit to as many time slots as your schedule allows.

If you would like to be a presenter for Career Day, please click here & fill out the Google form by March 6, 2026. You will then be contacted by Mrs. Igboin to confirm your availability and follow up with further information.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

🏥 From the Nurse's Office 🩺

Illustration of diverse children showing signs of illness, such as coughing and sneezing.
With cold & flu season upon us, it important that you review the guidelines listed below when deciding whether or not to send your child to school if they are not feeling well.

Guidelines for Keeping a Sick Child at Home

Should my child be at school with this illness?
Unnecessary absences from school can adversely affect children's academic progress, and also have a negative impact on their social and emotional growth. The following information is not intended as medical advice, but as guidelines to follow until you can contact your healthcare provider.
If any of these conditions do not improve or seem to be getting worse, or aren't responding to treatment, consult your healthcare provider.

Vomiting and Diarrhea
A child with vomiting and/or diarrhea should be kept at home until symptoms have resolved for 24 hours and the child is able to keep down food and liquid.

Fever
Your child may attend school with a temperature less than 100.4 degrees. Your child must be fever-free, without fever reducing medication, for 24 hours before returning to school.

Headache
A child should be kept home if a headache is severe and does not respond to treatment, and is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever.

Earache and Toothache
A child need not miss school due to an ear infection or a toothache if he/she is under medical treatment, has no other symptoms such as fever, and can complete school work despite the discomfort.

Cold, Sore Throat, Cough
Keep your child home if cold and cough symptoms are associated with fever or swollen glands, or if they do not readily improve. Your child may attend school if there is no fever, he/she is not fatigued and is able to do school work, and if the symptoms are mild and your child can manage behaviors to prevent the spread of germs. If your doctor has prescribed antibiotics, your child must be on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

Rash
Keep your child home from school if your child has a sizable rash over the body or face, and if the rash is oozing or due to a contagious condition.

Red Eyes
Keep your child home if the white part of the eye appears red and produces a yellow or green crusty discharge. If your child has been diagnosed with pinkeye (conjunctivitis, a contagious infection of the outer layer of the eye), he/she may attend school after 24 hours of antibiotic eye medication.

Encourage your children to wash their hands frequently to avoid spreading germs and disease. Please refer to the health protocol guidelines on the nurse's web page. You may contact Nurse Palma at (856) 829-7778 ext 5803 or palmak@cinnaminson.com if you have any questions.
