Dear Rush Families,
As we head into the season of gratitude, I want to extend heartfelt appreciation to each of you for the many ways you contribute to our school. Rush is a special place because of the care, encouragement, and commitment our families bring to our students and staff each day. You'll notice this edition of The Parrot Post includes many thank-you's, which demonstrates the generous spirit of our district's families, students and staff.
Since this year began, we’ve seen the power of collaboration, whether you are cheering your child on from home, volunteering at school events, or partnering with us in their learning. Your involvement strengthens our community, and we are truly thankful for the role you play in helping our students grow and succeed.
As we approach the Thanksgiving break, I hope you find time to enjoy meaningful moments with the people who matter most to you. May the days ahead be filled with rest, reflection, and a spirit of gratitude.
Warm wishes for a wonderful holiday,
Mrs. Mele

Thank You For Visiting Our School!
Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who took time out of their busy schedules to visit our classrooms and get a glimpse into their child's school day on American Education Visitation Day last week! We hope you enjoyed your time with us and came away with an appreciation for the hard work done by your children and their teachers each and every day.

November 19th marked Educational Support Professionals Day, and we proudly recognize the incredible work of our ESPs who play a vital role in making our school run smoothly each and every day. ESPs are the dedicated staff members who support students and teachers in countless ways. Our classroom and one-on-one aides who guide student learning, our office team who keeps everything organized and running, our lunch and recess staff who keep students safe, our custodians who take care of our building, and our bus drivers who ensure students arrive safely to and from school are all vital to the successful operation of our school. We are grateful for their hard work, caring support, and unwavering commitment to our students and school community. Please join us in thanking our ESPs for all they do to make Rush a welcoming place to learn and grow! 💙🍎

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Cinnaminson Municipal Alliance for generously supporting our school during Red Ribbon Week. This year’s national theme, “Life is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free,” encouraged students to make healthy, safe choices. Thanks to the Alliance, and a special thank-you to Ms. Kim Mauroff for coordinating, our students received a red ribbon sticker and a fun puzzle pen to reinforce this important message. We appreciate their continued dedication to promoting drug-free education and making a positive impact in our community! 💙🧩

With the holiday season upon us, it is time to start thinking about giving to those that are less fortunate. Rush Student Council will once again be having a toy drive for Toys for Tots.
Toys for Tots is sponsored by the U.S Marine Corps Reserves. This program collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes these toys as holiday gifts to needy children in the community. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new gift, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
Our toy drive will begin on Monday, December 15th and continue through Friday, December 19th.
All donations will be collected on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Please help the children this holiday season by donating new, unwrapped toys.
We thank you for your generosity and the children thank you!

During the month of October, Rush School students were encouraged to participate in Soctober by donating socks to help those in need in the community during the upcoming cold winter months. Throughout October, our students collected 6,142 pairs of socks, with Mrs. Zarycki's class leading the charge by bringing in 1,677 pairs of socks alone! The socks that were collected have been donated to Volunteers of America in Collingswood, where they will be distributed to those in need in South Jersey. Way to go Rush School! You all are making a huge difference in our community!

When the stress that accompanies caring for a child with special needs gets to you, sometimes it helps to be able to talk to someone who is living a similar life and can lend an empathetic ear.
When the issues run deeper, Mom2Mom can help you find a compatible professional for treatment, if necessary. The Mom2Mom peer support helpline (877-914-6662) and other programs are staffed by mothers of children with special needs who have been trained as counselors with the support of mental health clinicians.

With cold & flu season upon us, it important that you review the guidelines listed below when deciding whether or not to send your child to school if they are not feeling well.
Guidelines for Keeping a Sick Child at Home
Should my child be at school with this illness?
Unnecessary absences from school can adversely affect children's academic progress, and also have a negative impact on their social and emotional growth. The following information is not intended as medical advice, but as guidelines to follow until you can contact your healthcare provider.
If any of these conditions do not improve or seem to be getting worse, or aren't responding to treatment, consult your healthcare provider.
Vomiting and Diarrhea
A child with vomiting and/or diarrhea should be kept at home until symptoms have resolved for 24 hours and the child is able to keep down food and liquid.
Fever
Your child may attend school with a temperature less than 100.4 degrees. Your child must be fever-free, without fever reducing medication, for 24 hours before returning to school.
Headache
A child should be kept home if a headache is severe and does not respond to treatment, and is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever.
Earache and Toothache
A child need not miss school due to an ear infection or a toothache if he/she is under medical treatment, has no other symptoms such as fever, and can complete school work despite the discomfort.
Cold, Sore Throat, Cough
Keep your child home if cold and cough symptoms are associated with fever or swollen glands, or if they do not readily improve. Your child may attend school if there is no fever, he/she is not fatigued and is able to do school work, and if the symptoms are mild and your child can manage behaviors to prevent the spread of germs. If your doctor has prescribed antibiotics, your child must be on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Rash
Keep your child home from school if your child has a sizable rash over the body or face, and if the rash is oozing or due to a contagious condition.
Red Eyes
Keep your child home if the white part of the eye appears red and produces a yellow or green crusty discharge. If your child has been diagnosed with pinkeye (conjunctivitis, a contagious infection of the outer layer of the eye), he/she may attend school after 24 hours of antibiotic eye medication.
Encourage your children to wash their hands frequently to avoid spreading germs and disease. Please refer to the health protocol guidelines on the nurse's web page. You may contact Nurse Palma at (856) 829-7778 ext 5803 or palmak@cinnaminson.com if you have any questions.
