Please read on for all the information you need to know about our school's celebration of Halloween! Thank you for your cooperation. We are looking forward to a safe, fun, & spooky day at school.

For any student who does not celebrate Halloween, there is an alternative activity planned for the afternoon. Please use this form to note that you would like your child to participate in the alternative activity.

COSTUME RULES

1. Avoid violent or bloody images. It is okay to look "scary," but there is a difference between frightening and gruesome.
2. Students should bring their costumes in a bag labeled with their name. Eye and face masks are acceptable (make sure that vision is not impaired). Makeup should be minimal and applied at home. *Remember--learning will still be taking place. So, your child will not change into their costume/mask until 12:30-12:45PM.
3. Please make sure that your child's costume has nothing hanging below the ankle. Tripping and/or getting materials caught is a major concern.
4. Props (if any) must be manageable, particularly if students ride a bus.
5. Weapons of any kind are not permitted.
6. Remember that students scheduled for Physical Education on the 31st will still have class. Athletic footwear should still be worn.

🎃 HALLOWEEN PARADE 🎃

A group of children in Halloween costumes stand together, smiling.
Our Halloween Parade will begin between 1:00-1:15pm on Friday, 10/31, led by the Cinnaminson High School Marching Band. The parade route begins at Rush School and students will walk down Wynwood Drive to the Wynwood Rehabilitation Center next to the Merion, then back up Wynwood Drive to Rush School again.

We ask that families coming to watch the parade remain off of the school property and line the sides of Wynwood Drive. Waving, cheering and quick pictures are welcome but we ask that you do not call your child out of the parade line.

The side streets off of Wynwood Drive can be narrow so we ask that you only park on the side of the street permitted by the signs that the Cinnaminson Police Department will post. This will still allow for emergency vehicles to access the neighboring areas. There is no parking on Wynwood for visitors.

Once the parade is over, only designated room helpers will be allowed into the building for the class parties.

🍂 ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITY ON 10/31 🍂

For any student who does not celebrate Halloween, there is a fun alternative activity planned for the afternoon. Please use the form below to note that you would like your child to participate in the alternative activity.

If you would prefer to pick your child up for dismissal, please alert the office by completing the form below and be sure to come at 12:30pm so it is counted as a full day.

🏥 From the Nurse's Office 🩺

Illustration of diverse children showing signs of illness, such as coughing and sneezing.
With cold & flu season upon us, it important that you review the guidelines listed below when deciding whether or not to send your child to school if they are not feeling well.

Guidelines for Keeping a Sick Child at Home

Should my child be at school with this illness?
Unnecessary absences from school can adversely affect children's academic progress, and also have a negative impact on their social and emotional growth. The following information is not intended as medical advice, but as guidelines to follow until you can contact your healthcare provider.
If any of these conditions do not improve or seem to be getting worse, or aren't responding to treatment, consult your healthcare provider.

Vomiting and Diarrhea
A child with vomiting and/or diarrhea should be kept at home until symptoms have resolved for 24 hours and the child is able to keep down food and liquid.

Fever
Your child may attend school with a temperature less than 100.4 degrees. Your child must be fever-free, without fever reducing medication, for 24 hours before returning to school.

Headache
A child should be kept home if a headache is severe and does not respond to treatment, and is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever.

Earache and Toothache
A child need not miss school due to an ear infection or a toothache if he/she is under medical treatment, has no other symptoms such as fever, and can complete school work despite the discomfort.

Cold, Sore Throat, Cough
Keep your child home if cold and cough symptoms are associated with fever or swollen glands, or if they do not readily improve. Your child may attend school if there is no fever, he/she is not fatigued and is able to do school work, and if the symptoms are mild and your child can manage behaviors to prevent the spread of germs. If your doctor has prescribed antibiotics, your child must be on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

Rash
Keep your child home from school if your child has a sizable rash over the body or face, and if the rash is oozing or due to a contagious condition.

Red Eyes
Keep your child home if the white part of the eye appears red and produces a yellow or green crusty discharge. If your child has been diagnosed with pinkeye (conjunctivitis, a contagious infection of the outer layer of the eye), he/she may attend school after 24 hours of antibiotic eye medication.

Encourage your children to wash their hands frequently to avoid spreading germs and disease. Please refer to the health protocol guidelines on the nurse's web page. You may contact Nurse Palma at (856) 829-7778 ext 5803 or palmak@cinnaminson.com if you have any questions.

Governor's Educator of the Year

The New Jersey Department of Education logo with text: Governor's Educator of the Year.
It is time once again for us to collect nominations for the Governor's Educator and Educational Support Professional of the Year. The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) strives to recognize educators who have gone above and beyond in their service to New Jersey’s students. Please take a few minutes to think of a special teacher or instructional support professional who you feel has made a difference in the life of your child and/or in the community. Complete the nomination form linked below and please be as specific and descriptive as possible.

Each candidate will be scored based on the criteria below:
  • Serves as an exceptionally skilled and dedicated educator in a public school;
  • Inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;
  • Demonstrates leadership and innovation in and outside the classroom;
  • Has the respect and admiration of students, parents, administrators and colleagues; and
  • Plays an active role in the community as well as the school.

Your voice counts! Please help us recognize our Rush School teachers by submitting a nomination form electronically, or you may also print this form and submit a hard copy to the attention of Mrs. Mele if you prefer.

All nominations are due no later than Sunday, November 16th.

LOST & FOUND

The pile keeps growing! Please encourage your child to take a look at our Lost & Found collection to look for items of clothing, water bottles, or various items that they might be missing.
Parents and guardians are also welcome to stop by to take a look!

NOTE: UNCLAIMED CLOTHING WILL BE DONATED TO GOODWILL ON 10/31/25. UNCLAIMED LUNCH BOXES AND WATER BOTTLES WILL BE DISCARDED.

We strongly recommend labeling your child's clothing, water bottles, and valuables with their name or initials as it helps us return lost items to their owners!
